Would somebody PLEASE explain the popped collar thing to me? They're all over campus. When did a too-tight polyester polo with a flipped-up collar suddenly become "cool"?

I think it's stupid as well, but remember tight-rolling your pants when we were younger? Or the huge bangs all the girls had?
Every generation has their stupid fashion trends. Unfortunately this one has to be so close to eye level though...
